The fur on Makucha's back quivered as he dropped down and began to edge forward through the tall blades of grass, scenting the crisp air as though tasting it. His ears went forward, his lime green eyes suddenly full of sly cunning. The leopard's instincts were fully engaged, and though his awareness of his quarry was not held in his conscious mind, all of his senses were at work, reading the gazelle's patterns as though it were a book.
He shot out of the dark cover of grass. He moved as fast as a hare, but springing in a clear, straight line across the plain, covering the space between his patch and the gazelle in a matter of seconds. His heart was racing as the wind raked his bushy ears, and the scent swamped his nostrils. He was around the gazelle's neck and, as it rolled, he bit hard and deep, drinking the hot, lip-smacking blood as it flowed between his teeth as it spasmed violently.
He grinned, showing off his red teeth to the cutthroats and sentinels on the field as if to say, "Get on my level."

The sound of a chase did little to catch Zagmus' interest. Heterochormia hues closed while he listened to the chattering around him. It was a lazy day despite everyone slowly filtering into the lands, taking a spot to call their own while everyone situated and fixated themselves until the leader's would address them. Zagmus had been here far longer than most so the sudden influx of people, while annoying, didn't pester him much. However what did grate on some nerves was how overly eager other's were.
Eyes slowly opened as he heard the thud of bodies against the Savannah ground. Turning his large head to look at the source of the noise, not far from him laid Makucha on top of a kill he had just made. A dark brow quirked but other than that, the grumpy old barbary male showed little to no interest in what had happened. Despite the little 'show' of the other's teeth. A lazed leg was lifted before Zagmus scratched under his chin, then moved to soothe down his mane.
"Great job, really." He grumbled.

Hangry werecat was hangry.
Kattz paced. He wanted to hunt, but was currently being too dramatic about his situation to get into the right zone. It had been a long time since he lived like a normal cat for an extended period. He was still too used to the comforts of his bipedal form. And stores. Stores were nice too. But alas, the nearest store had to be miles away. He snarled, his orange-tipped tail twitching.
The pretentious feline was not looking forward to having to work for his food.
A pointed ear swiveled and soon the whole rest of Kattz had turned. He watched the leopard for a few moments before scowling, his lip curling to reveal more of his oversized saber fangs. Truth be told, he was a little jealous but pretended as if he didn’t care. He pushed his glasses further up his nose as he leaned back. He clapped his pads dryly.
“A solid – 6 out of 10.”
He was just salty because he didn’t want to have to hunt for himself.

The rest of the herd kept a safe distance from Makucha, their senses almost frozen in impotent horror. The only solace they had was knowing the leopard would not go after any of them for a full day, though none of them could say the same for Zagmus and Kattz.
"Hm, tough crowd," Makucha quipped. He shrugged and resumed his meal. Leopards dragged their prey up in trees to keep it from being taken by other animals, but he knew Zagmus and Kattz would not take kindly to that.
Once his hunger had been abated, Makucha turned from his kill, lazily licking his paws until they were pink. "Help yourselves." Though its ribs were open to the sky, there was still plenty of meat left.

The comment from Kattz had a small smirk tugging at the lion's lips despite trying not to smirk in amusement at the situation. His gaze went towards the other feline, taking a moment to study his features before the big barbary lion got onto his feet. With a grunt, he stretched. Leaning back to stretch his fore legs then moving to stretch his back. When he was done he let out a yawn before shaking his pelt, causing his mane to almost poof up in every direction but especially on the very top of his head.
After Zagmus had sorted himself out he moved to investigate his surroundings. Odd colored hues examining everything with a careful eye. He didn't seem all that interested in conversation but he figured he'd amuse the other two for a little while. "So what do you two hope to gain from helping out with this little war, we have going on?" He idly questioned.

Now, the werecat was entirely huge enough to bully other predators off their kills if he really wanted. Today though, it didn’t seem as if that would be the case. Kattz’s way of surviving his situation ultimately depended on what would expend the least energy. He was, in essence, just an overgrown version of the stereotypical lazy housecat.
When Makucha offered a free meal, Kattz was quick to accept. He got back to his front paws and started to close the distance. Despite that he was hungry, he walked. He didn’t want to look too eager. That would’ve been embarrassing.
Kattz didn’t hesitate in laying down and gnawing on a front leg. A little bit of blood streaked his glasses, slightly obscuring his vision.
“Protection,” he stated curtly in reply to Zagmus.
Well, at least it was more polite than “none of your business”.

"A bigger hunting ground," Makucha disclosed, licking his chops. "The Pride Lands has plenty of food, but leopards aren't allowed there. I've spent months tracking an okapi only to be robbed of my quarry. They kicked me out. And I was so close too." He frowned. "Leopards don't do well in groups because we're ambush predators, but even I know there's strength in numbers. Just so long as I'm not forced to hunt in a group, we'll get along just fine."
He gave a coy smile to Zagmus. "So what's in it for you, hm?"

The curt reply from Kattz had Zagmus turning his green and yellowed gaze over to the fellow cat. Watching the fat cat lay down by the remainder of the gazelle and start gnawing on whatever meat he could get off of the corpse. He shook his head, he knew there'd be know point in losing his temper over such a small thing. He turned his head back towards Makucha before grunting, he could understand the want for bigger hunting turf. Plus pridelanders weren't exactly willing to share with anyone outside of the pride. "I doubt you'll be forced to hunt alongside anyone unless hunting or pickings start to get slim."
At the question it had a large dark brow quirking, tail curling slightly as the male studied Makucha's face for a moment. He was already growing tired of talking, not use to extensive conversations as he typically kept to himself when it all came down to it. "Nothing, I've been with this pride for months. I'm just doing my part."

He hardly considered himself shy, but here he was, surrounded by apex predators, and he found himself silent. He silently observed the others tearing into their fresh kill, before deciding that even though he wasn’t hungry, he could join them. Orobas’s large shadow loomed over them, as he absentmindedly answered Zagmus’ question.
“I’m here to catch my bounty.” Orobas said. As if to make a point, he stomped down on the gazelle’s head with a massive hoof. The bone splintered with a sickening noise, and blood stained his fetlocks. His black eyes rested on the others, as a small semblance of a crooked smile spread across his maw.

The chubby cat had eaten the leg he was working on: bones included. Cronch.
He had been listening, though he was occupied with cleaning his glasses. Using his paws like hands briefly, he licked one of his pads and began rubbing the little bit of blood off the lens. Pointy ears twitched a bit before he was finished and put his glasses back on.
When the fourth beast approached, the blue feline flinched away, lifting a front leg to block his face from the blood spray of the gazelle’s skull. Once he was sure he was safe from getting his eye-wear dirty again, he put his paw down. Kattz sat back on his haunches.
“It’s just as good I came here. The, ‘Pride Landers’ you called them, don’t seem like they’d be very accepting of my type,” he grumbled.

"That's us, accepting to the very core!" Along came the smaller leonine form of an adolescent female. Smaller than the lot by a degree of significance she nevertheless failed to appear perturbed. The black tuft tipping her tail flicked high above her back in a confident curl as Kula pranced up alongside Zagmus. Green eyes held no fear of the surrounding creatures but rather a thick curiosity. Who would dare harm her, after all? She was Scar's pretty little princess. Heir to his throne and future mother to a bloodline of Prideland kings and queens.
With a little hum Kula brushed herself alongside Zagmus' side in a brief motion that served two purposes. First, a method of expressing affection in the bond between pridemembers. Second and more importantly it displayed to those nearby that she had no problem touching and being touched by the large lion -- and if they wanted to get to her they'd likely have to go through her large pridemate.
Passing out of Zagmus' shadow Kula padded to the body of the gazelle, giving it a delicate sniff. The head resembled something a crocodile might barf up now -- eew.
"Impressive," She stated passively. Lifting her gaze the young lioness peered into the face of the not-a-zebra-zebra-looking-thing. "So... What's a bounty then?"

Orobas might have been a demon, but it didn’t mean that he didn’t have manners. The young lion that stood before him oozed pure royalty. Her eyes were eerily similar to Scar’s, and it didn’t take much guessing to know that she was Scar’s heir.
His lovely little…
“Princess.” Orobas said, locking his black eyes on hers. He snorted loudly at her question, before raising his head.
“My “bounty” are two pesky little unicorns running around within one of the other three armies. As soon as I’ve taken care of them, I’ll get a lovely little reward.” Orobas growled. He raised his hoof from the gazelle’s barely recognizable head, and looked at the others for a moment. The others seemed to be finishing their meal, and briefly, he entertained the thought of joining in as well. But his appetite had escaped him. Talking with the others seemed far more interesting than eating, anyway. He returned to Kula, with what could barely be called a smile on his face.
“And what brings you here, dear princess?”

The moment Kula's voice sounded in his ears, Zagmus' attention shifted greatly, his expression visibly changing into a lighter one. Greened and yellowed hues turned to look down at the smaller feminine feline, watching her approach with interest. A small dip of his head was given in greeting before the sound of a rumbling 'purr' left him as she brushed herself along his heavy side. The purr though, it was more of a growl seeing as that was the closest to a purr a lion could get.
Nevertheless he returned the affection contently, rubbing his head along her neck and cheek before pulling away. He was more than content to have Kula here now, mood seeming immediately lifted just by her presence. His tail curled slowly as he turned his attention to Orobas, the zebra looking beast that appeared seemingly out of no where who the Princess strolled over too.
He watched with some form of distrust, ready to leap at any moment but some part of him knew that there was no need to worry for now. The animals around him weren't fools, they wouldn't go after Scar's daughter when they knew it would mean banishment or worse. Instead he settled for sitting back down, keeping a close eye on his- The Princess.

Makucha impassively watched Scar's adolescent daughter, the regent, strut on in. He was not sure how he felt about her. She was less than half his age, yet she surpassed them all in rank. Scar's cub or not, Makucha felt Kula was way too young and inexperienced to have that much power at her disposal and that the rank should have gone to somebody more seasoned. What was Scar thinking?
Of course, Makucha kept such treacherous thoughts to himself. At the end of the day, it was not his place to question the king's authority. He was only a cutthroat.
"What's a unicorn?" he asked Oroba, tilting his head.

The blue cat turned his head, but didn’t bother to stand up. He gave the young lioness a quick look over, and then pondered what she’d said; it sounded a bit too much to him that she was trying to sell him the idea of the army. He’d already joined, so why?
Maybe he should repress his natural urge to be nit-picky.
Kattz had no real need to speak. In fact, it was difficult for a while to even get a read on his face, aside from “default grumpy”. These other animals seemed... fine; he didn’t have any strong feelings yet. Even with a princess before him, Kattz didn’t feel like he had to suck up, not unless there was some kind of a great reward for it. He was a capitalist having to adapt to a monarchy.
The blankness of his expression faded when Kula brushed by Zagmus. His eyes became less stoic and his ears dropped slightly. It served as an unwelcome reminder of how lonely he was; he wasn't too popular with the monsters back home. Kattz turned his head away so he could hopefully recover unnoticed.
Once Makucha asked his question, Kattz’s yellow eyes looked Orobas’s way. Kattz knew what unicorns were, but his expertise was in things like ghosts and ghouls. He wouldn’t speak over someone who knew better than him. Not in this situation anyway.
