Simba
Known Aliases: The Lion King
Rank: King
Alignment: Freedom Fighters
Gender: Male
Age:
Personality: As a young adult, Simba's personality took a shift, becoming melodramatic and fearful - a direct result of Mufasa's death. Because he believed his father's demise was ultimately his fault, Simba felt unworthy of ruling the throne, hinting at signs of low self-esteem, in addition to becoming reluctant to ever face his past. It wasn't until he met and obtained guidance from the wise mandrill, Rafiki, that Simba would discover that the past is important, and should be looked to in order to learn from mistakes but never as a reason to prevent one's self from moving forward in life. In spite of this, Simba was also willing to partake in more easy-going experiences, as seen with his friendship with Timon and Pumbaa. As a full grown adult and King of the Pride Lands, with Nala, Kion, and Kiara, Simba is no longer overly adventurous and outgoing, instead becoming humble and a little soft-spoken, but still a powerful leader.
Backstory: Simba grew up under Mufasa's tutelage, living a privileged life as next in line to the throne. His naïve nature was taken advantage of by his uncle Scar, who hatched a devious scheme to kill both Mufasa and Simba, and claim the throne for himself.
Unfortunately for Scar, Simba survived, and believing that his father's death was on him, he ran away into the desert. It was there that he was discovered by Timon and Pumbaa, who raised him throughout his teenage years. While he was living a carefree life with Timon and Pumbaa, Nala reappeared, bringing him news of how Scar and his hyenas had devastated the Pridelands.
Simba, at first reluctant, returned to the Pridelands to take back the throne. His return, and Scar's subsequent banishment, was combined with Sarabi getting the message out to other heroic figures that they were in need of help. Some time later, Nala gave birth to Kiara, and then Kion. Simba became overprotective of the two, fearing that the worst could be awaiting them. But after Kion proved himself worthy to lead the next Lion Guard, and Kiara proved herself fit to be next in line to the throne, Simba relaxed a little bit.
When Aladdin and the others escaped the Arabian Peninsula, they came to Simba for help, hoping to work with him and other good-hearted soldiers to fight back against Jafar and Maleficent. Initially, Simba declined, not wishing to put his family and kingdom in danger again.
The Lion King changed his mind weeks later, when Rafiki discovered scorch marks in Mizumu Grove, and upon further investigation, discovered that Blackblood soldiers had infiltrated the Pridelands. After unsucessfully asking them to leave, Simba had no other choice but to declare war. As he gathered up troops for his Freedom Fighters, Aladdin and a few others went out to find soldiers to join Simba’s cause.
One of those soldiers was a fellow king, Clopin Trouillefou. He took up the post as Simba’s right-hand man, pushing aside all other contenders based on his experience and wit. For a while things ran smoothly, as new Freedom Fighters were recruited and trained to fight against their enemies.
For all of Simba’s benevolence, he was definitely not without fault. Because of his late uncle Scar, Simba was paranoid and unwilling to forgive the Outlanders, pushing away potential soldiers because he wasn’t sure when they would turn on the rest of them. That, among a slew of other problems, led to Clopin’s departure from the Freedom Fighters, followed by a few Freedom Fighters themselves. Even his own Queen, Nala, believed Clopin to be right, and left to join the Rogues.
Left with his cubs and an army to run, Simba had no time to mourn his lost love. His main concern was the safety of his faction and the Pridelands.
