July 15th, Closed Thread Until Stated Otherwise
The cooler air of the night was refreshing, the day's hot and dry air having been a constant annoyance. Jasper was well accustom to the heat, but he preferred the cold any day, with the heat there was only so many layers one could take off but with the cold... Those seemed like simpler times when he thought about it. Curling up by the fire with a good book, some food and a good friend or two to discuss how the day had gone or just sit in the comfortable silence snuggled up with people he knew. He almost wished it were that way still but he tried not to dwell on it.
In fact he shouldn't of dwelt on it, he had more important matters to attend. Jasper wouldn't admit to it but over the few weeks that he settled in the Serengeti become close friends with the lion 'king', often providing him advice when Jasmine couldn't. That or just being a shoulder the king could lean on. While there was somethings Jasper could agree on with Simba, other things were just ridiculous. Sometimes he could be too trusting for his own good, or too strict when he needed to be lenient. He supposed that's why Clopin had left...
Simba was too easy on some individuals that needed a firm hand, and then when other's needed his mercy he wouldn't give it. It was almost like he did the exact opposite of what a person needed in those times, and while Jasper didn't want to question his leadership he almost felt like he needed too. Then again why else would Simba make him into a council member if he didn't want his advice...?
Feet guided the man to the meeting spot of the King, a tent that Aladdin and the others had set up some time ago. An arm moved the canvas out of the way, mismatched hues gazed around the 'room' before he entered. His eyes eventually settled on the King, a frown tugging at the corner of his lips. "You summoned me, sire?"

At the sound of Jasper’s voice, the Lion King’s head rose from the collection of maps on the floor. He wasn’t literate like Clopin’s dogs were, but Aladdin had shown him the symbols on the maps, which were much easier to decipher. Rafiki and old Malkia had at least taught him the importance of that.
The map under his large paw was one of the supposed “hideout” of the Blackblood army, hidden somewhere in the Pridelands. His scouts had obtained the information little by little, and they had come up with a very rudimentary map as to what the soldiers did at that particular outpost. It had everything from their supposed “tents”, to where they kept their supplies. His scarlet eyes scrutinized the images, before rising to meet Jasper’s.
“Jasper! Yes, I did call you here.” Simba began, as he rose to greet his council. He had called Jasper specifically for now. It wasn’t that Jasmine or any of the other council members didn’t have any merit. To him, the matter at paw was something that he felt Jasper could give proper advice about. The lion took a deep breath, and then gestured with his paw towards a few pillows on the floor.
“You can sit down if you want to. But I need you to know that what I’m about to tell you might be a little…strange.” Simba said.
“I’d like to hold a meeting. Between us, and the armies we’re fighting against.” Simba stated.

Mismatched hues settled on the maps that laid scattered across the floor, watching as the lion king looked towards him. The smallest sliver of a smile graced the shifter's features as he gave a nod of greeting back to his friend. He could almost tell the other was either nervous or excited, that glimmer behind his eye giving away that he had something to talk about as per usual. As the king motioned him to sit, Jasper did not hesitate. Moving to plop down on the collection of pillows before getting properly situated. Crossing his legs and resting his arms against them.
He gave a small nod of 'go ahead' before silently listening to the king's proposition. For a moment he was relaxed but in the next few seconds he felt his body tense.
"Whoa, whoa! You want to do what?!" He nearly bellowed but managed to refrain. "Simba-" He struggled for words. "Are you-" He shook his head, moving to stand up. "Are you mad?!" He rubbed a hand up his face, nearly knocking off his glasses in the process before sorting himself out. A heavy breath was drawn out of him as he tried to calm his current racing thoughts.
"I don't think that is a good idea at all, normally I would agree," He sighed heavily, shaking his head again before his crossed his hands over each other then pulled them away in a 'no way' gesture. "This is a bad idea. We can't trust them, and they have made no efforts to prove that they would be in favor for peace, let alone even consider the idea."

Simba nearly leapt up at Jasper’s sudden outburst, even though the other had tried to retain himself. The lion knew this was going to be a touchy subject, but it wasn’t without reason.
For all his paranoia about the Outsiders and the Blackbloods, Simba felt that somewhere deep down, at least a few of their opponents had to have a sliver of good within them.
“Jasper! Please, just sit down and let me explain. Trust me, I know this sounds crazy, I didn’t want to believe it myself.” Simba said, taking a moment to draw in a breath. He slowly exhaled, and his gaze met Jasper. He pushed the map towards the other, and gestured for him to sit down once more.
“That is a map of what some our scouts believe to be a Blackblood outpost. They’ve seen some of their soldiers hanging around there more than once, but we aren’t too sure just what they’re up to.” Simba said, as he rested a paw on the corner of the map that was beginning to curl up.
“I made my way to the outpost the other day, just to see if I could find anything of note, anything we could use to turn the tide. “
“Luckily, there were no soldiers there that I could see, so I came out of my hiding spot to look around. The outpost isn’t that big, just a couple tents and some other things for basic survival. I looked around, trying to find something. I found this interesting map, but before I could open it up, I heard something rustling in one of the tents.”
“I hid in some bushes that were surrounding the outpost, and I watched as this very tall woman emerged from the tent. She looked a lot like that man …Jafar, who exiled Aladdin and his friends. Somehow, she noticed I was there, because before I could get away, she was standing before me. I still don’t know how she moved so quickly.” Simba said, with a sheepish grin. He remembered the moment made him feel like a cub again, when Scar’s hyenas had caught him and Nala.
“And then the strangest thing happened. She said that she had actually been looking for me. As crazy as this sounds, I agreed to talk to her, and she told me that her brother, Jafar, was looking for peace. She agreed that maybe we could organize a meeting between us, so that maybe we could talk, and write up a treaty.” Simba said, looking at Jasper.
“I know this all sounds extremely naïve of me, but Jasper, look at what this war is doing to us. I lost my mate. Families have been separated. Soldiers have died, and for what? That’s why I agreed to talk peace with Jafar and his sister.”

"You did what?" He honestly felt like he was scolding a child at this point, he couldn't help it. Nor could he stop himself. This was probably one of the most ridiculous things he had heard in a while, as if there was really hope that the other sides would want as much peace as them.
He could understand the want for peace, the hope for it, he too wanted that more than anything but everything about this situation read 'fishy' to him, loud and clear. How Simba could be so reckless he couldn't understand, in fact it boiled his blood a little just thinking about it. One would think after everything that had been going on he'd really reconsider this whole thing but he had his mind set, so Jasper doubted whatever he argued would be heard. He scrubbed a hand down his face giving a hefty huff, his eyes remaining shut for a long moment as he tried to gather his multitude of thoughts.
"First, what the hell were you thinking going out there alone?!" His mismatched gaze immediately went to the other. "You could of been captured, or killed, or worse Simba! These aren't the same days that they once were! We are in the middle of a god damn war, no where is safe, in a moment's notice our camp could be uprooted, more of our people could be killed. Do you know badly we'd be left in disarray had you been injured or killed?" He sighed irritably, baring his teeth a little in frustration.
"The answer is tremendously. We need a leader, and I'm sorry but ever since Aladdin's run off everyone's trust has been shaken. If we lose another member of command than our forces will start to waver and that is the last thing we need. The people, our people trust you to make good decisions, Simba..."
He closed his eyes once again, taking a breath and trying to calm his frayed nerves. He knew that his scolding was mainly out of care, but still he felt he may of crossed the line. "I apologize for my blatant yelling, just..."
'I know this all sounds extremely naïve of me, but Jasper, look at what this war is doing to us. I lost my mate. Families have been separated. Soldiers have died, and for what? That’s why I agreed to talk peace with Jafar and his sister.'
Naive wouldn't of been the word Jasper would of used but that didn't mattered, he grit his teeth yet again trying to get his emotions under control. "I know you have, sire...And I'm sorry you have lost so much, and I know soldiers have died-" He sighed roughly, feeling at a loss for words but something about this whole situation seemed wrong.
"Sir, with all do respect I don't know if we can trust them...I don't know if we can trust anyone at this point, I can't make you choose what yer going to do. I have a feeling you'll do it regardless if I give you my good graces or not, but please consider the fact that this might not be what it looks like."
