Rajah
Known Aliases: Kitty, stripes, pussy cat (not unless you want to die)
Rank: Shadowkeeper (for now)
Alignment: Rogues (Chaotic Neutral)
Gender: Male
Age: 8 years
Personality:
Rajah is aggressively loyal, but only to Jasmine and others that he holds close. He will only listen to commands from Jasmine or from others that he considers worthy of listening to, openly disliking everyone who isn’t Jasmine. This can change with time but Rajah’s default is to dislike others. Although if anyone crosses him he will fight back, being especially protective of anyone he considers worth being bonded to. Rajah will do anything to keep himself and those he holds close safe and happy. To those be considers close, Rajah is extremely caring and protective, with his bravery serving to assist him in keeping those he loves safe from possible dangers.
Due to his life, from the circus and beyond, he has grown distrustful and suspicious of others until they prove themselves to him. Such was his relationship with Aladdin for some time, not really trusting the boy but willing to put it aside since Jasmine loved him so much.
However, he doesn’t think his decision through completely and often acts on impulse, making him reckless. This can mean he will rush head on into a dangerous situation without thinking very much into it, leaving him vulnerable to more thought out attacks. Rajah can be wild and unpredictable, to everyone who isn’t Jasmine, with no one really knowing his true intentions until he acts. Even then his mind may shift and he may change completely, such as attacking Aladdin but pretending it’s all in good fun immediately after.
Backstory:
The large tiger was born without a real name to a pair of performing circus tigers in a place he can’t remember, he refuses to remember his old name and doesn’t care for it. He was bred to perform, and was trained as such, he was to become the next generation to take over when his parents no longer brought in the cash. Rajah can’t remember his parents, although he doesn’t really want to, all of his time during the circus was time he never wanted to remember. He was trained to obey people, to push away his natural instincts and to do exactly what he was told.
Somehow, he managed to escape from the circus, running into the young princess Jasmine, who had seen it as a sign from her recently deceased mother and wanted to keep him for herself. Naming him Rajah after the stories she would tell. Initially, this looked like a simple event, one that would be reversed when the circus found him. Rajah didn’t know that Jasmine was a princess, so when her father purchased him from the circus Rajah didn’t know what to do with himself, and soon found himself forever in debt to Jasmine and her father.
Jasmine let Rajah do whatever he wanted, he had as much power within the palace as she did. His instincts were allowed to return and as much as he was a pet tiger, he was still a tiger. He was also allowed to grow very large, larger than most other tigers it seemed. Jasmine insisted on spending all her time with him and Rajah bonded to her very quickly, following her around and keeping her out of trouble while also letting her do whatever she wanted.
Then the Sultan started to talk about arranged marriages when Jasmine got older, Rajah paid no mind to it originally. New men would come in and he would check them out, Jasmine would tell him to chase them out and he would without hesitation. Things from there seemed repetitive, a new suitor would come and Rajah would chase them off. Then Jasmine decided she wanted to escape from it all, leaving the palace over a wall dressed as a commoner in the hopes of getting away from the things she hated within the walls. He wanted to follow her but she wouldn’t let him, so he remained in the palace and waited, hoping she could return.
It was during this little escapade that she met Aladdin, a street urchin that Rajah immediately didn’t like but that Jasmine had become enamoured with. With her coming back to him crying saying that he was already dead, and Rajah thought that problem seemed to solved itself without any effort on his part.
But when ‘Prince Ali’ came in Rajah’s anger flared, Jasmine was still upset over the death of Aladdin and was in no mood to deal with another suitor. So, Rajah tried to shoo him away, but my god was this boy determined. Slowly it seemed that Ali won her over, so Rajah put up with him and spent a lot of time in the background. Reasoning with himself that at least Jasmine was happy. Although some confusion arose when it was revealed that Aladdin and Ali were the same man, which Rajah was sure he would’ve been able to tell had he met the street rat before he ‘died’. He stopped paying much attention to everything that was happening, lies crossed over themselves and the truth kept changing and Rajah got lazy about keeping up with it. Deciding he didn’t really like Aladdin no matter who he was.
The world seemed to fall apart when Jafar tried to take over, using the power of the genie to trap and torture him, Jasmine and the Sultan. Being forced to watch Jasmine do things that seemed awful and demeaning, becoming a slave to the new sultan. There was little he could do to help Jasmine, being transformed and trapped in a cage due to his lack of forethought. Confusing him when she seemed to agree to it suddenly, but it was a ruse to distract him while Aladdin freed them all, which failed and left his beloved Jasmine trapped in an hourglass waiting to be drowned in sand. His heart shattered, worrying that she would die before him and he could do nothing to save her. But Aladdin got control of the situation and defeated Jafar, and freed Genie.
After that everything seemed to return to some kind of normal, for a short time anyway. Then Jafar was brought back to life and everything fell apart, Aladdin and Jasmine were forced to flee to the pridelands. Rajah hated every second of it, especially when Jasmine seemed to ignore him a lot of the time, so when everything got worse again and the allies to the freedom fighters separated themselves and became the Rogues. Rajah decided to follow them, annoyed with everything that happened once the war started. He will always have a place in his heart for Jasmine but wanted to try something new and that meant moving away from her.
