Kopa
Known Aliases:
Former Prince of the Pridelands
Faction: Rogues
Rank: Shadowkeeper
Alignment: Chaotic Good
Gender: Male(He/Him Pronouns)
Age: 1½ Years
Personality: As a cub, Kopa was playful, kind and loving. He was always looking for new and exciting adventures, and just like his father before him, he had a knack for getting into trouble. He was easily excitably, and loved to hear stories. He made fast friends and kept to those friendships, but he was also a bit of a brat. Having been the crown prince, he was like his father in thinking that everything should be handed to him, but as he grew he learned that that wasn't always going to be the case.
After his nearly two month long disappearance, Kopa came back a changed lion. He had grown distant, and more colder to those he once cared very deeply for. But, he was also wiser and more mature. He's come to see that if you want something you have to work for it, and if it is simply impossible there are always bigger and better things out there to strive for. He came back under the mindset that the kingdom was fine on its own, and while he still stood behind his father in his rule, he knew that if something were to happen the Pridelands would live on without them. It's part of the reason why he feels so strongly about Kion's new 'position'.
After Simba's second betrayal, Kopa has nearly turned against his father completely. If Simba is someone who would choose an outsider over his own family then he is not someone Kopa wants anything to do with. Having always been close with his mother, Kopa decided to follow her and he hopes that with his family slowly leaving him behind, Simba will come to realize the mistakes he is making in choosing outsiders over them.
Backstory: Kopa was born not long after the end of Scar's reign. He was the first of three cubs to be born to the king and queen of the Pridelands and the only one of his litter. During his first year and a half of life, Kopa was dubbed the crown prince, his father started training him, the animals of the Pridelands had come to respect him and call him their 'future king', and he also made quite a few friends among them. A few of which included a hyrax named Pembi, a cheetah called Beba, a pair of monkeys, Jambo and Kwaheri, and the lion cub Afua. When Nala announced that she was to have cubs once more, Kopa had been elated. The idea of being a big brother excited him and he couldn't wait to teach them new things and show them around the Pridelands. Nala had softly assured him that he could, but that he would have to wait until they were old enough. Kopa was more than happy to comply.
After Kion and Kiara were born, Kopa's training sessions slowly started to become shorter and shorter, and fewer and farther in between. At first Kopa didn't notice, he just thought his father was excited for the new cubs just as he was. But as time went on it became clearer and clearer that Simba's attentions had started to turn from his eldest child to his youngest. When Simba made the announcement that Kiara was to be heir to the throne, it didn't as much of a surprise to Kopa but it still hurt. How could his father just turn him away like that. He could still be king, he would be a good one. He even told Simba this, but the king had made it clear that his decision was final.
For the next month and a half Kopa disappeared, no one really knew what had happened to him, but when he returned he had changed. He was colder, more distant, but there was still good in him. He payed little mind to his siblings, and when he learned of Kion's new place as leader of the 'Lion Guard', he had scoffed at the very idea. The Pridelands didn't need protecting from anything, especially not by some little cub. When Simba learned of Kopa's return he had asked his son where he'd run off to, and Kopa just told him it didn't matter. Simba was not pleased with the answer, but Kopa never said anything further. After this, Kopa spent most of his time with his mother(who he had always been fairly close to), and off by himself.
When the news of the war came and the new and strange people began to show up, Kopa had went to his father explaining that it was a bad idea to get involved. It wasn't their fight to fight. They were safe where they were, and the only reason they even knew something was going on was because of these 'humans'. They had no part. But Simba wouldn't listen, he made his point known that he was actively taking part and made a human his second. Kopa was outraged. Why would his father choose a human, an outsider, as his second in command? What about his mother? What about him? Feeling once again betrayed by the very lion he'd come to adore so much, Kopa turned away. When Clopin, another member of this new 'army', decided to split from Simba and do his own thing, Kopa felt a pull to go with him. His decision was made for him when his mother left with Clopin and extended the offer to her cubs. Kopa readily followed.
