Mowgli
Known Aliases: Man-Cub
Rank: Cadet
Alignment: Freedom Fighters
Gender: Male
Age: 10
Personality: Mowgli has the typical child-like traits. He is playful, carefree, free-spirited, friendly and well meaning. In addition to that he is highly optimistic and laid-backed.
On the more negative side, however, his optimism can result in naïveté. As evidenced with how quickly he warmed up to King Louie and considered bargaining with him and also with how careless he was when he was hypnotized and nearly devoured by Kaa. On top of that, he is generally short-tempered and can get violent is he is bothered by someone.
However, he is also very brave and noble. Mowgli stands his ground when threatened and does whatever he can to ensure his safety and those whom he cares about.
Backstory: Where Mowgli came from is a mystery, even to himself. But he was found abandoned as an infant by Bagheera the panther. Who took the "man-cub" to Raksha the wolf, who gladly agreed to care for the boy and raise him as her own cub. She named him Mowgli (which means "frog" in the wolf language) due to his lack of fur.
Growing up, the ways of the wolf did not come easily to Mowgli as it did with his siblings. He preferred to walk on two legs and embraced human instincts and intellect.
Unfortunately, the wolves and Bagheera knew that at some point, Mowgli would have to accept that he belongs with his own kind and some day would have to return to civilization. That day came when rumours grew of Shere Khan's return, which led to the wolves' concern that as long as Mowgli remains in the jungle, he is in danger. As the wolf council discussed this, Bagheera volunteered to take Mowgli to a "man village" that he had seen. The same night, the panther and the man cub began their journey to the village. However, Mowgli did not take the decision well, feeling as if he was being rejected from his home rather than it being based on the wolves' love and concern for the boy.
On their way, the two stopped to get sleep in a tree for the night. As Mowgli lamented on this matter, Kaa the python appeared. The former foolishly looked into his eyes and was hypnotized by the snake, who wrapped him up in his coils and prepared to consume him. Fortunately, Bagheera noticed this and intervened. Mowgli then retaliated by pushing Kaa out of the tree.
As the journey continued, Mowgli showed even more persistence and demanded to stay in the jungle, which resulted in an argument between him and Bagheera. Fed up with his bratty behaviour, Bagheera stormed off to cool down. Moments later, Mowgli encountered Baloo, the happy-go-lucky bear. The latter noticed Mowgli was upset and decided to cheer him up. The two then shared a bonding moment. Unfortunately, that moment was cut short when Mowgli was kidnapped by the bandar-log (monkeys) and delivered him to their king, Louie, who offered Mowgli protection from Shere Khan and ensured that he would stay in the jungle, in exchange for teaching him to make fire. But since Mowgli was not raised by humans, he does not possess the skill to do such a thing.
Soon, Bagheera and Baloo arrived to rescue the boy and defeated the monkeys.
That night, Bagheera finally managed to convince Baloo that the man cub must leave the jungle, not just for his own safety but because he does not belong in the wild, much to Baloo's grief. When Mowgli woke up, Baloo reluctantly told him that he had to take him to the man village. Shocked, Mowgli accused the bear of betraying him and ran away. Baloo and Bagheera split up in hopes of finding him in time.
Soon afterwards, Mowgli was completely lost and wandering the jungle with no place to go. As he sat under a tree, he found himself once again trapped in Kaa's coils and the latter tricked the man cub into looking into his eyes and hypnotized him into a deep and peaceful sleep. Ironically, Mowgli was saved by the intervention of the suspicious Shere Khan. Who distracted Kaa long enough for Mowgli to wake up from his trance and escape.
Later on, Shere Khan found Mowgli with a group of vultures. Nevertheless, Mowgli refused to back off when threatened by the tiger. Impressed by his courage, Shere Khan gave him a chance to defend himself. But as he attacked, Baloo arrived just in time to keep him occupied. In the ensuing battle, Shere Khan severely injured Baloo. Meanwhile, a lightning struck a nearby tree, setting some of its branches on fire. Mowgli then used the fire to scare the tiger off.
As Mowgli mourns the seemingly dead Baloo, Bagheera arrives on the scene and consoles him, as well as acknowledging that he underestimated Mowgli's capabilities. But Baloo is revived moments later and the trio head off to the man village. As they reach the village, Mowgli sees a girl collecting water, marking the first time he sees another human. Fascinated, Mowgli approaches the girl. As the girl notices Mowgli, she takes him to the village. But as Mowgli reaches the entrance, he feels conflicted, as he is now equally as fond of the village as he was of the jungle. Ultimately, he decides to enter the village. However, the jungle still held a special place in his heart, and would do so for the rest of his life.
