July 1 | Open to all Rogues
As the sun began to rise, so did the king. With a yawn, he rolled out of bed, seeing both Dante and Virgil posted by the door to his bedroom. He couldn’t help but smile at how stoically they were standing, as changed into his clothes, and donned his royal purple cloak, lined with ermine fur, and trimmed with gold. He refused to wear his crown; for him, it was much too heavy, and his hat did the job just as well.
He was a man of the people, after all. The king made his way down into Paris, preferring to take a horse as opposed to a carriage. As much as he loved the fancy trappings of truly royal life, Clopin didn’t want to advertise just how rich he truly was, simply because his enemies were hiding, and he knew they were waiting for the opportunity to pounce.
Followed by Dante and Virgil, Clopin made his way back to the only place he truly felt at home: the Court of Miracles. Using the money he’d come into as a result of becoming the king of France, he had managed to commission a building just as great as the Palace of Justice, for his people to enjoy. They no longer had to live a subterranean life, shunned by society. He made his way into the grand building, and came to stop at his chair, where he held his own court. It sat off to the side when the gallows were being used, but since there was no current good “noose”, the chair now sat in the dead center. Clopin stood in front of the chair, and gestured grandly to his army below.
“Mes amis, welcome! For those of you who have just joined us, feel free to familiarize yourself with your new home! Here in Paris, you will have everything available to you. I am Clopin, leader of the Rogues, and king of France. “ Clopin said, with a bow.
“Do not let the titles fool you!” Clopin said, his shrill voice carrying throughout the crowd.
“As my people will tell you, I care deeply for them, and I shall care deeply for you. You are free to approach me at any time.” Clopin said, gesturing to himself. He bowed one final time, before taking a seat.
“Are there any questions?” he asked, interlocking his gloved hands to rest his chin on.

He was out of his element. Everything about this situation labelled him as out of his element, there was chattering all around. Loud whoops and shouts coming from random beings all settled across the room, it was too loud for his old nerves and the old jungle king gritted his teeth in irritation. Why had he thought joining up with these jokers, fools, and what have you's was a good idea? He wasn't sure but something had brought him there. The sound of footsteps carrying across the floor however caught his attention, solid single golden hue fixating on the source of the noise and watching the King carry himself to his throne. Two canides followed in close pursuit, obviously the King's guards. It wasn't a new sight for him, he had been there a few days longer than the rest and had already been assigned a rank, but he had still not grown use to such a thing.
Long black, white, and orange ringed tail curled before thudding loudly against his perch. Settled on one of the many tables scattered around as if to give himself a better view of his surroundings. As the King introduced himself and addressed the court, Shere Khan turned his disgruntled gaze away from the other. He wasn't sure what to make of the King yet, he held his judgement for now. Despite the fact he already disliked humans, he was trying his best to push by past reinforced judgments but it was hard.
This whole situation was hard, rooted from his home and placed in the center of a man made town. It was no place for him but he would deal with it in the only way he could, with a scowl and moving forward without a word.

Brown eyes scanned the room before her. Quite a crowd had formed already, some had been there for a few days, others only just arrived, but they were all gathered for the same reason. Jenn had only arrived the day before, having traveled all the way from Greece. Something about the thought of new adventures and experiences drew her away from the land she'd claimed as her home, to France, to the Rouges army.
Her feathers ruffled as she stood at one side of the room, her gaze falling on a man clad in purple, and two dogs at his heels. She hadn't personally met the leader yet, but she'd heard word of the man. She listened silently as he spoke to the crowd, it was difficult to say at the moment, but it seemed like he had a good head on his shoulders when it came to leading an army. That was good, there was not much worry about following a faulty leader then.
Many of the army seemed to murmur among themselves when asked if they had questions, but nobody seemed to want to speak up first. Seeing this, Jenn stepped forward from the wall she'd been leaning against, flexing her wings slightly as she walked forward. "I'm sure many of us have traveled far from home, myself included. We're in a foreign land that's quite different from our own. It may take some time getting adjusted to such a change. Is there anything we should be immediately concerned about?"

Spines was doing his thing.
Which of course meant he could’ve been doing just about anything, regardless of how appropriate it was or wasn’t.
At the moment, he was being surprisingly tame. He sat on the ground, his legs folded. Occasionally, his tail would jitter. It was a thinking jitter. The dumb hyena trope didn’t hold true for this mammal; his mind was going a million miles a minute, hence way his mouth was shut. What was going through his head: who knows? But Spines definitely had an agenda in showing his face.
He looked at his peers, apparently sizing them up. This was his first opportunity to really get an idea of how varied this gathering was. He was hoping to see all kinds of faces. So far, the human leader, two dogs, a large cat and some manner of human-like bird creature. What sort of characters would he come across? It appeased his curious nature: his need for variation.
The striped hyena had nothing to say; now was the time for watching. He seemed excited.

Chaara, the great python, slithered towards the king but kept her distance to avoid trouble. She had been brought to this land against her will recently, but fortune smiled upon her as she escaped her captors. Which forced her to make a new life in France, eating rats in the sewers, which disgusted her. Still, at least she was free.
"Everything available?" Chaara thought to herself, intrigued by the king's statement. She wondered if she could really find her purpose here. "With no disrespect, your excellency." Chaara said to the human leader, appearing humble and respectful before him. "What can this land offer me? My only struggle so far has been for survival, but I was taken away from my natural habitat. This land is unknown to me, I doubt I could survive here. How would I live? How would any of us foreigners who are not familiar with human customs live?"
Chaara put her head on the ground, anxious, fearing that she may have spoken badly of Paris, and by extension, the king himself.

On his way to the rendezvous, Hunter tripped over a snail and careened into a cheese wheel stand. He sheepishly got up and fell down a flight of stairs, somersaulting over a pig being led to where Hunter and the dogs got their fix of bacon and crash landing on somebody's compost pile. By the time he got to where he was supposed to be, he looked like he had not bathed since the reign of Louis XI.
Hunter unceremoniously plopped down in between a big, burly tiger and a striped hyena. "What'd I miss?" he asked no one in particular.

The king’s eyes gleaned over the slowly growing crowd, from the tiger that had proved himself as an assassin, to the snake that had slithered in. His Rogues were turning out to be quite sizeable, almost comparable to the Freedom Fighters. And just like his old faction, there was a colorful amount of characters.
As he had expected, they had questions, all of which he was ready to answer. His eyes turned towards the strange girl with the wings, as he stood from his throne, throwing his cloak over his shoulders. He was curious to know what she was, if she was really an angel sent down to walk among humans.
“Do not worry, mon petit. There isn’t much to be concerned about! Paris is a lovely city, with people from many different walks of life. Any potential dangers are immediately taken care of by me, as I am not only the leader of the Rogues. I am also the reigning king of France herself.” Clopin said. He then gestured to the silver wolfdog by his side.
“For those of you who are concerned, or lost, Dante here will be holding tours of our lovely capital. He is very knowledgeable, so be sure to ask him lots of questions! He is a well-traveled canine, and will be able to answer any question you may have.”
Clopin’s attention then turned to the snake. He gestured for Virgil to come forward, and the golden dog did so, puffing out his chest with pride.
“This is Virgil. We understand that being an animal in a city unfit for anything other than humans may be difficult, but we have prepared accordingly, to accommodate both species. Virgil will be showing you and any others the Parisian countryside, which is abundant with rolling hills, forests, and plenty of wide, open space. France is your country as well, mes amis.” Clopin said, with a deep bow.
“Virgil will teach you how to survive here, so far from home. We are all very happy to have you here, and my one wish is to make my army comfortable, so that when the time comes, you will be ready to fight those salauds!” Clopin exclaimed, with a wink.

More and more interesting creatures seemed to pack into the Court of Miracles, and more new scents graced Sherekhan's nose. Eyes narrowed as he tried to memorize each one, while they were all allies at the moment there was no telling who would turn in the future. It was best to know the scents now instead of later, he thought to himself. Voices spoke from the crowd, a 'man' with wings and a snake that slithered across the floor. Harvest gold hue studied the pattern of the beast scales before his muzzle wrinkled in disdain, mind reminding him of a reptile he had once encounter back in India. Though much larger than this one, that much was certain.
Black tipped ear folded back as a canide tumbled into the court, smelling of dirt and other less pleasant things. His muzzle twitched, teeth being revealed as he pulled back his lips, the low rumble of a growl bubbled in his chest. "Nothing of importance, wolf." His voice seemed to edge on irritated, who he was irritated with though was unclear. The large male stood up from where he was laying, he lowered just below his haunches as he stepped down from his perch. Moving away from the striped hyena and wolf, casting a glance towards Spines to familiarize himself with the other's features before heading for Clopin.
The king was busy introducing his hounds but the maneater didn't let that stop him. Moving to stand in the front of the crowd and turning his head up towards the other. "Speaking of fighting, we should give everyone their ranks. That way people can familiarize themselves with who they'll be fighting alongside, don't you think?"

Post by Cerberus on Jul 15, 2017 16:56:15 GMT
Three large noses sniffed at the ground, tracking a scent they knew all too well. Many of the poor residents of Paris scrambled out of the way of the giant dog, letting out cries of alarm and fear. Cerberus shrugged these off for the moment, he was too busy looking for his winged-girl to bother with tormenting mortals.
The dog's search eventually led him to a large building. Large, yes, but not quite big enough for him to squeeze any more than one head at a time through the door, much less his whole body. Letting out a huff, one head poked through the doors, red eyes scanning around for one person in particular. Up at the front of the crowd, he saw her, and let out a loud bark, two other heads roughly pushing the first out of the way as they too tried to look inside and get her attention.
Jenn listened as someone else spoke up, a large snake voiced her own concerns to the king, who quelled their worries and questions with reassurance that they would be taught the layout of the city and how to live there. Brown eyes shifted to the large tiger she'd noticed in the crowd before as he spoke up, mentioning the ranks they would be assigned. She found herself nodding slightly in agreement at this, very much wanting to know who her allies in combat would be. However, before she could say any more, a series of loud barks caught her attention. She whipped her head around towards the door behind her, not expecting to see who she saw there. "Cerberus!?"
The angel left the front of the room, with a quick flap of her wings she was by the door before anyone could raise alarm at the monstrous dog. Cerberus' tail wagged as she ducked out the door and stood before him. He leaned down and nudged her with one nose, while the other two let out happy barks. Jenn however, wasn't quite as happy. "What- did you follow me all the way here? Does Hades know you left?" He paused, three sets of ears drooped and he let out a whine as his heads lowered. Jenn let out a frustrated sigh, she could only imagine Hades' reaction to finding out his guard dog was gone. Well, she couldn't exactly turn the dog away, he'd be better off staying with her, someone who could control him, than wandering the mortal realm unchecked. "Cerby... you goof. What am I gonna do with you?" she sighed, a ghost of a smile crossing her face as she reached out to scratch his heads. She looked over her shoulder as she heard the crowd inside murmuring, though whether it was because of the giant dog, or other reasons, she couldn't tell.

Post by Taylor on Jul 16, 2017 0:00:12 GMT
“No freaking way. Am I dreaming? That can’t be Cerberus, can it?” Taylor’s voice preceded her, as she came into the great hall, walking in between two unicorns. The smaller one tilted her head, regarding the fact that there was a large, three-headed dog standing in their midst. “I don’t think you’re dreaming. That’s definitely—“ “CERBERUS!” Before either Taylor or Sophia could react, Bob had already taken off at a full gallop towards the massive three-headed dog. He skidded to a stop by one of the dog’s paws, and rose on both hind legs, resting his pink hooves on the dog’s leg. “I haven’t seen y’all in forever! Are you here with anyone? Is it Circe? Is it another god?!” His voice then dropped to a whisper. “Is it Hades?” “Does he…does he know him?” Taylor asked. Sophia shrugged, and continued on, attempting to shrug off her brother’s behavior. She wasn’t even sure if they were late or early to this meeting, but her brother sure knew how to make a first impression. ------------- Clopin was at a pause. He was expecting animals and humans, but he definitely was not expecting a massive, three-headed dog, and not one, but two unicorns. He was so sure that they were only myths. But there they stood, as alive as his own dogs by his side. The gypsy king took a brief moment to compose himself, as he saw the strange angel approach the canine and talk to him. The dog seemed familiar with her, as two of its three heads barked happily. The barks resounded throughout the hall, echoing off the walls. One of the unicorns seemed familiar with the dog as well. The crowd below began to murmur at the sight of the mythical creatures, and Clopin knew he had to calm them down, at least to continue on with questions. Dante himself seemed a little unnerved, while Virgil was intrigued. However, both canines remained by their king’s side. The gypsy king raised both his arms over the crowd and waved, with a reassuring smile upon his face. “Do not panic! We knew we would be meeting many different soldiers today, and as it turns out, the mighty Cerberus is one of them.” Clopin said, with a nod towards Jenn. As long as she could keep the dog under control, Clopin figured they would all be fine. Another question arose, prompting him to face Shere Khan. “Ranks will be posted in the food hall. From there, once everyone is settled, we will begin training sessions, so that the Rogues are ready for any intruders. We are like hornets, and we must protect our hive.” Clopin said.

Spines could smell the oncoming wolf before he saw him. He didn’t acknowledge Hunter until he spoke up, showing surprising focus on the room around him up until that point. Furthermore, it wasn’t like the hyena was in any place to judge; Spines had his own pungent aroma the vast majority of the time. By default, he reeked of strange chemicals and “natural musk”. Spines turned slightly. “Everyone’s still filtering in,” said the hyena. He then looked back as the large feline strode past them. In response, he quirked a brow and blew a raspberry out the side of his mouth. He was interrupted by whatever clever quip he might’ve had by the resonating sound of a borf. Turning again, he spotted the beast and the pair of equines shortly after. His reaction to this was to start laughing like a maniac. As ya do. ~*~ Holding true to her reputation of having “fantastic” timing, Ari chose to appear at that instant. The TV-headed creature dropped down from above; possibly jumping off of something or, more likely, popping right out of fat air. She landed gracefully on her talons and leaned up, bringing her head above the majority of the crowd. Placid cyan eyes briefly glazed over her surroundings as she twisted her dangling cables with a claw. “Hello. I was made aware of this gathering.” Rather suddenly, she whipped around, her downy tail swinging back behind her. “My entrance was acceptable, no? What is our objective?”

"Country? Countryside? I've never heard of those things." Chaara thought, looking around this strange forest of stone. She had heard of villages, where humans live, but never had she expected to come across anything as overwhelming as this place.
"Well, I suppose that as long as we're all given proper guidance, we shouldn't worry." Chaara said to the king, trying to sound optimistic. She examined Virgil, suddenly appearing doubtful that a mere canine could guide someone as great as herself. But she realized that her best chance of survival was to pledge herself to Clopin.
"And who will train us? You and your dog, Virgil?" Chaara asked. "With respect, are you sure some of us truly need training? I, for one, am a natural predator with experience to defend myself and others."

It was almost like the more people that filtered in the crazier it got. First a man cub walked in with two unicorns, then a three headed dog stuck it's head right through the door, and finally a being popped out of thin air. It was a little much for the old cat to take in, closing his eyes tightly to get his proper wits about him before the question from Chaara had his lips pulling back. Teeth bared and a low growl bubbled from him.
"Natural predator or not, we won't just be fighting other animals." The growl came out louder than intended but Sherekhan did not cease his temporary hostility. "As much as I hate to agree with a man, everyone needs training. You, myself, everyone in this whole 'house' as you people call it will need it. I may have gotten here only a few days before you but I already have seen that what we will be dealing with isn't normal, not only that but humans have guns, swords, things that we normally wouldn't have to face and let's not forget the red flower. We have the skill in our bodies sure, taught how to fend for ourselves from day one, but we will need to learn more if we are to live and survive do I make myself clear?" It was only then that the growl tampered, long tail thrashing slightly before he turned his gaze back to Clopin.
His yellowed hue observed the king, and then his hounds before looking away. "The sooner we get this on the path it needs to be, the better."

Post by Hades on Jul 18, 2017 1:50:06 GMT
It hadn't taken long for Hades to pinpoint where his lousy mutt and unofficial third minion had disappeared to after he noticed their sudden absence. In a puff of black smoke, the lord of the dead appeared in the quickly filling hall, a quick glance was all he needed to spot Cerberus, and Jenn. Ignoring the array of colourful characters gathered in the room, he walked over to the two.
---
Jenn looked over when she heard someone else call out Cerberus' name. A unicorn with a bright pink mane came galloping over to the giant dog. She wondered how he knew Cerberus, since unicorns were pure creatures, and definitely not the kind you would expect to ever find in the Underworld. Cerberus meanwhile looked down at the brightly maned unicorn as he approached, for a second going on the aggressive with three low growls, but quickly he realized who it was and cut himself off. "BOB!" "Bob?" "Hey Bob." All three heads greeted the unicorn, leaning over to better see him as he spoke, asking who he was here with, he shook his heads with each name, "No," "here with not-master, Jenn" "girl with purple wings."
Jenn meanwhile stared at the seemingly one sided conversation Bob was having with Cerby, all she could hear from the dog were grumbling noises, but it seemed the unicorn understood him regardless. She looked back up when Clopin mentioned Cerberus being a part of their ranks, and smiled. She gave a sharp nod, understanding that he would allow the dog to stay as long as she kept him on a hypothetical leash. She only half listened to the rest of the conversations between her fellow army recruits, as only a moment later, she noticed an all to familiar plume of smoke out of the corner of her eye. "oh great..."
Hades walked up to Jenn, gripping one of her arms as he leaned over to whisper in her ear, "You. Me. Talk outside, now." Jenn frowned, but nodded, pulling her arm from his grip and walking past Cerberus and out the doors, Hades following close behind. Once outside, Hades crossed his arms, staring down at the angel, "So, mind explaining why you left all of a sudden, taking my dog with you?" "I didn't bring Cerby with me, he just followed me here. And I left because... I dunno, there was something big going on, and I wanted to be part of it."-
--- Cerberus had seen Hades appear and watched as he and Jenn went outside. While they were outside talking, he turned his attention back to Bob, glad to see his old friend. When you're a giant three headed dog, you don't get many of those. "You're here," "why?" "Who are you with? Other unicorn and small girl?"

The unicorn wagged his long tail in excitement, as he set his front hooves on the cobblestone floor. He was probably ten times more excited to see Cerberus than all three of Cerberus' heads put together. He kept eye contact with the massive dog, listening to all three heads speak. The unicorn glanced back at Taylor and Sophia for a moment. The two of them were occupied with listening to the king answer questions, and for now, they were safe. Maybe he was worrying too much about them. "I'm here to fight those bad guys, y’all! King Clopin put out a draft, and we happened to come across it, so we all said “why not”, and joined!” Bob said. Using his tail, he pointed out Sophia and Taylor to Cerberus. “That’s my sister there with the lavender hair, and the girl who’s with us is my best friend Taylor. She’s our partner in crime.” Bob said, with a wink. “Where did y’all’s angel friend go?” ------- As much as Clopin loved hearing himself talk, he was quickly tiring of the questions. He could tell that both Dante and Virgil were growing impatient as well. He opened his mouth to answer Chaara, but Khan cut him off, answering the question for him. The tiger’s yellow eyes then fell on him, and he cleared his throat, nodding in agreement. “Khan is correct. The sooner we start, the better. For those of you who wish to find out your rank, feel free to visit the mess hall. Those of you who wish to go on tours may follow Dante or Virgil. Training will begin later on this afternoon. I will call it to order. À bientôt, mes amis.” Clopin said, with a smile and a deep bow. He wrapped his royal purple cape around himself, and in a blast of purple smoke, the king suddenly disappeared from sight, leaving the gold and silver shepherds at the top of the gallows. The pair leapt down in unison, before heading their separate ways. “Follow me for the countryside!” Virgil barked, as he waited at the tunnel that lead directly out of the new Court of Miracles, and straight to the countryside. “And if you are taking a tour of our lovely capital, follow me, s'il vous plaît.” Dante said, standing at the entrance where they had first come in.
